Albert Joseph "AJ" Smith was born on January 23, 1923 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, and passed to the next life on January 4, 2017. He was born to Leo and Josephine Smith, the second of six children. He learned the values of hard work, respect, and duty at an early age, as evidenced by his participation in the Civilian Conservation Corp as a young man, as well as service in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II and again in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked throughout Texas before working at Tinker Field AFB, from which he retired in 1989.
Albert was married to Cecilia Smith, and together they raised their son, Christopher. Albert was very excited to become a grandfather at 89. Albert had a lifelong intellectual curiosity in mathematics, science, horticulture, history, and in modifying things to make them fit his needs. He was a devout Catholic who tried to live his life being friendly and respectful, thereby developing friendships and respect with others.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife Cecilia. He is survived by his son, Chris and wife Kristin and daughter Olivia, and his sister, Maryann (Smith) Kutlenios.
His family would like to especially thank St. Ann's Assisted Living Community for the compassion and professionalism they share with their residents daily.
