Alena Shadid

Alena Shadid, 84, was born on July 22, 1927 in Oklahoma City to Mose & Hafeetha Shadid, both immigrants from Lebanon. She passed away the evening of November 12, 2011 from an extended lung illness. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1945. She married Khairy K. Shadid on December 17, 1945, and they were blessed with four daughters. Alena was a very loving wife, mother and "Sittie" to her granddaughter. She always put her family before herself and was thankful for her many blessings. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family whether it was a big family dinner or just out with her girls for a "treat". She loved watching her soap operas and keeping up with all the political action of the day. She loved visiting with her sisters and reminiscing about the past. She was very strong and independent and was determined to stay that way. She suffered a great deal of loss in her life, especially with the death of her youngest daughter, yet she always remained strong and made the best out of every situation. Alena was preceded in death by her husband Khairy, precious daughter Pammy, her parents, sister Anita Shadid, brother Kelly Shadid, Khairy's parents K.J. and Noha Shadid, brothers-in-law H.K. Shadid, Jim Nayfa, Fred Jacobs and two nephews Tony Jacobs and Bobby Jacobs. She is survived by her daughters and her sons-in-law Kathleen and John Callesen, Becky and Billy Boyd, Shirley and Randall Casey and by her most beloved granddaughter Talia Renee Casey. She is also survived by her sisters Nellie Nayfa and Wendy Jacobs, sisters-in-law Vicky Shadid and Joyce Shadid, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
