Alfred Lee Bowman went to his new eternal life with the Lord on July 9, 2024. He was born on September 9, 1940, in Henryetta, OK, to Lloyd and Jamie Holcomb Bowman. He attended school in Wagner where he excelled in all sports. He attended NEO on a football scholarship and played in the Junior Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, CA. He then served in the US Army in Korea. After his military service, he worked for OG&E and Western Electric. While going to night school, earned a BA from OCU and his JD from OCU School of Law.
He married Loy Walters on May 15, 1965, in Oklahoma City. They moved to Altus in 1969 where he established a law practice. He also served as the Municipal Judge. Honesty and compassion were his calling cards. They moved back to OKC in 1990 where he worked for FDIC. After retirement, he joined the legal division of the OK Tax Commission.
Al was a unique and wonderful treasure. He loved God, his country, his Catholic faith, his wife, and his children. He was admired for his weird sense of humor. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and served in many offices.
He is survived by his wife 59 of years, his daughters, Laura McNeil, husband Matt and their sons Kade and Ryder of Dallas, GA; Sabrina Steele, husband Robert and their daughter Zoe of Sandy, UT; and son Chris Bowman of OKC. He is also survived by his siblings Ron of Muskogee; Paul of Houston, TX; and Donna Lablanc of Sand Springs.
A Rosary Service will be held at St. Eugene Chapel Monday, July 22, 2024, at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 10 am at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W. Hefner Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Daily Living Center at 3000 N. Rockwell Bethany, OK 73008.
