Lorene Turley, age 87, passed from this life on Oct. 9, 2010. She was born Sept. 24, 1923 in Stillwater, OK. Her father, Marion G. Tucker, was a county extension agent. Her mother, Flora Anna Mossler Tucker, was a homemaker who raised a family of six children. While attending Chickasha High School, Lorene met the love of her life, Zane Grey Turley. She completed one year at the Oklahoma College for Women before they were married. When Zane returned from service in WWII, they moved to Stillwater where he completed his degree in chemistry. For the next 38 years they moved ten times as Zane moved up the career ladder at United States Gypsum Company. They retired in 1988 while living in Roswell, GA. Lorene had an active social life through the Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, volunteer service, and club work, especially PEO. She loved the outdoors, including travel, hunting, and golf. Even after a severe stroke in 1990 she was a voracious reader and an avid bridge player. Nothing was more important to Lorene than her extended family who will remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Florene. She is survived by her husband, Zane; brothers Donald, Lyndell, and Morris Tucker; sister Geneva Jamison; brother-in-law Tab Turley; sister-in-law Ida B. Blackburn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.
