Alveria Elizabeth Kopp was born August 3, 1928 to James Vincent and Jane Fitzgerald in New York City. She was the youngest of four siblings. She married Frank Kopp in 1950 and together they raised 3 boys. As a family they moved many times, living in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Kansas before settling in Oklahoma.
Shortly after their move to Oklahoma, Alveria completed a program to become an LPN. She continued her education to become a Registered Nurse, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma City University in 1974. As a nurse, she worked at Deaconess Hospital and later became Nurse Manager of Gilbert Clinic in Bethany.
She loved learning and returned to school, receiving her Master of Arts in Teaching at OCU in 1978 as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Education from Kansas Newman College in 1987. She worked for many years at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church as Pastoral Associate. In 1997, Alveria and Frank received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for their work within the archdiocese.
For several years she and her husband were involved with foster care, initially with newborn infants and later extended this to young children who needed a temporary place that could provide love, structure and safety.
In addition to learning, she loved travel and was able to see parts of Europe, Asia, Central and South America.
She had a strong love for God and her family. She is survived by her sons, Gregory, Stephen, and Robert, her grandchildren, Jeff, Chris and Tracy, Allison and Brian. In addition, she enjoyed her grandchildren, Ben and Ryan Kopp and Kha’lee & Kha’lila Johnson.
