Alvin John Wasinger passed away Saturday, January 1st, at the age of 90. He was born in Salina, Kan. on May 11th, 1920, and was the youngest of four children. He attended St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hays, Kan., and later worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita. While working in Wichita, he met the woman who would become his wife of 64 years, Kay Flanagan. After his service in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic, Al and Kay married on June 3rd, 1946, and together they raised six children in Oklahoma City. Al retired from Fred Jones Ford, after serving the dealership as Truck Sales Manager for over 35 years. He always enjoyed the company of his family, friends, business associates, golf, and a good game of gin at Twin Hills Country Club. He was also one of the founding parishioners of St. Patrick Catholic Church as well as an ardent supporter of the Oklahoma City chapter of Birth Choice. Al is survived by his children Kathy and Ken McKinney, Bob Wasinger and his partner Joel Ballard, Jerry and Laura Wasinger, Tom and Susan Wasinger, and Bill and Jennifer Wasinger. He also leaves behind daughter-in-law Judy Wasinger, grandchildren Elizabeth Wasinger Davis and her husband Bert, John and Casey Wasinger, Anne Wasinger, Camille Wasinger, Rainer Wasinger, Liam Wasinger, Chad and Mary Wasinger, Michelle McKinney Hudson and her husband Greg, their children Katie, Molly, and Noah, Mike and Valerie McKinney, and their daughters Christina and Sarah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his spiritual family at St. Patrick Church. Al was predeceased by an infant daughter, his wife Kay, son Raymond, his parents, and sisters Amelia Van Lintel and her husband Bob, Sophie Windholz and her husband Penny, and Pauline Brungardt and her husband Joe. The family would like to thank Nancy and Leroy Rhodes, Brenda Smith, Javon Herbert, Vickie Hamilton, and everyone at Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided to Dad in his final days.
