Andrew Virgil Cummins

Andrew was born in Verden, Oklahoma to Andrew C. and Pauline Cummins. Andy graduated from Enid High School and upon graduation joined the Navy for four years. He was the first member of his family to graduate from high school and attend college. Andy chose Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a member of Delta tau Delta fraternity, serving as President for two years. OSU became his pride and joy where he was a lifetime season ticket holder to OSU football and basketball games. After college, he married the love of his life, Donna Peery and they moved to Dallas where he worked for LTV and earned a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Southern Methodist University at night. He became a Registered Professional Engineer. Andy then joined the family business of Peery and Cummins Tire and Supply in Oklahoma City turning it into one of the largest Dunlop distributors west of the Mississippi. He then spent the next fifty years working in Bricktown, managing his tire warehouse, real estate, parking lot and other investments. Andy enjoyed his twice weekly golf outings with his golf partner, Boyd and his friendship of fifty years with John Steele. Andy liked attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events as well as his "bridge" turned "dinner" group. He was a faithful member of Crown Heights Christian Church and the Lamplighter Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Clark Cummins and wife Mady; daughter, Andrea Malherbe and husband Chris; two brothers, Charles Cummins and wife Gail and Gary Cummins and wife Linda; five grandchildren, Erika Cummins, Cara Cummins, Britt, Mitch and Brooke Malherbe, as well as a host of extended friends and family. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15th at Crown Heights Christian Church with interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wheatland, OK. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crown Heights Christian 4020 N Western, OKC 73118.
