Angela Maxwell-Duverger

Angela Jean Maxwell-Duverger (Angi), 54, of Oklahoma City, passed away on March 14, 2025 after a courageous 13-month battle with cancer.

Angi was born on December 29, 1970 in Enid as the youngest to Jeanie and Wayne Maxwell and little sister to Bruce and Lisa. She grew up in Hennessey, Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma Christian University, where she was a member of Tri Theta and received a BSE in Elementary Education, graduating in 1993. She had fond memories of her time in college, especially the time she spent with dear friends as they studied abroad for a semester with the OC Vienna Studies Program.

She had careers as a teacher in Putnam City Schools and Deer Creek Public Schools, as well as a certified Medical Staff Credentialist serving Mercy, Integris, Yukon, Midwest City Regional, and Deaconess Hospitals. It was while working at Deaconess Hospital that she met her husband, Lamar. They were married in 1997 and welcomed two beautiful children into the world: Elise and Gavin.

Those who knew Angi knew how fiercely she loved her kids. She could be seen and heard passionately cheering on the sidelines at every football and soccer game. She was her kids' most devoted fan. Angi loved sports, all sports, and could tell you names of all the players. She was an avid fan of OU football and OKC Thunder basketball.

Angi was known for her class, charm, and wit! Angi loved life, loved to laugh, and had the greatest smile that would light up a room. She put together an outfit that could stop traffic and could pull a room together, as her home was always warm and welcoming. Most importantly, it was her faith in Jesus which she leaned on, especially in the last 13 months. She knew when her time on earth was done, she'd be sitting at the feet of Jesus.

Angi is survived by husband Lamar and her cherished children Elise and Gavin (Tilly) of Oklahoma City, Louisa and Harold (Amber), brother Bruce Maxwell (Steven) and sister Lisa Dixon (Larry), as well as her loving mother Jeanie Maxwell. Angi also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne Maxwell and newborn sister Kelly.

A celebration of life will be held in the Chapel at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland Ave. Oklahoma City OK on Wednesday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m.

To honor Angi's love of sports, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cleats for Kids, cleatsforkids.org/donate.

Angi will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
