Born in Clarendon TX to AO and Nan Walker on October 13, 1920, Ann lived her teen years in Amarillo where she met the love of her life Glen Henry Whitbeck at the water fountain of the Pantex ordinance plant. Although she played hard to get, she agreed to a date after Glen's persistent pursuit. Ann and Glen moved to Mesta Park in 1950 and raised four children.
As Ann's children became college age she supported their education by working for Sears in the buying department. The Whitbeck family always had a proper gathering at the dinner table and talked about the day's events while enjoying Ann's cooking talents. Sunday started by attending early Mass at Saint Joseph's Old Cathedral and returning to a hearty breakfast. Sunday evenings were planned around comfort food and more family time. Once a week Ann would not cook and visit a neighborhood coiffeur. During these times her family would traditionally enjoy Mexican fare at the Paseo El Chico. This tradition recurred latter in Ann's retirement when she and Glen would make a Wednesday evening date that went nearly unbroken for 40 plus years.
Their lovely life together lasted sixty plus years till 2010 when her love passed away. Without Glen in her life she continued to enjoy life reading many of the classics and helping her children with warm advice and support. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren brought joy to Ann as she continued life's journey. Resuming her travels Ann visited her granddaughter's wedding in Maui, and retraced many of her family's past trips to the great southwest. Ann will be laid to rest next to her Glen in Resurrection Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers you may donate to St. Eugene's School scholarship fund.
May our mother, grand and great rest in peace.
