Ann Reneau Asbury

Ann Reneau Asbury, 91, passed peacefully on Sept. 28, 2017 at Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City. She was born July 11, 1926 to Lawrence and Gladys McEwen in Fairview. She graduated from Aline High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State College in Alva where she met Master Sgt. Frank Reneau. They married in 1946 and after a few stints in Enid and Fayetteville, they made their home on the farm near Cherokee where Danette Elizabeth McCorkle and J. Robert Reneau III were born and raised. Ann moved to Oklahoma City after Frank's death in 1975 and worked in the Oklahoma State Senate Business Office for 15 years. In 1983, Ann was introduced to Bob Asbury, a widower from Tonkawa and they wed in 1989. After retirement, Ann and Bob enjoyed traveling the world and were faithful members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Bob passed in 2010 and Ann remained in their home in Oklahoma City. Her biggest passion was her family but she loved reading, watching Fox News and any OU, OSU, Dallas Cowboy or Thunder game and was an avid stamp and coin collector. Others preceding her in death were Joy Asbury and Jane Edenton. Survivors include son J. Robert Reneau (Mary); daughters Danette McCorkle (Grady), Judy McNames (Mike) and Jan Thames (Skip Cochran); grandson Matthew Tucker (Angie); granddaughters, Heather Tucker (Kenton Boevers), Margo Ward (Harper), Elaine Anderson (Christopher), Mandy Hogan (Jonathan) and Molly Shumate (Daniel). Great Grandchildren are Max, Molly, Grace and Lily Tucker; Ella Barton; Avery and Pierce Ward; Carter and Cate Anderson; Michael, Mary Kendall and Molly Hogan; Patrick and Samuel Shumate; cousin Jane Edenton's children Jan, Topley and Bruce; cousins Jody Nelson, Ed Mitchell and Jean Marie Pfeiffer along with granddog Bandit. The family would like to thank Ann's doctors, nurses and caregivers at Integris Baptist and the Bellevue Skilled Nursing Unit for the love and care they gave her. And a very special thank you to her neighbor Dr. Brad Marion who came to her rescue on many occasions. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be given to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Chapel.
