Anna Louise Baker Martin DeWine passed away January 22, 2025. She was born May 22, 1933, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, one of four children born to John and Angelina Baker. Anna attended Randolph-Macon College and was a member of Tri-Delta. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University, a Master’s degree from Oklahoma University, and her Doctorate from Oklahoma City University. She spent more than 28 years teaching 3rd and 5th grades in the Oklahoma City Public School District. She enjoyed teaching and empowering children with knowledge. Anna also spent time teaching adults English as a second language.
Anna and Leo Joe Martin gave life to five children, Margo, Michael, John, Frank, and David.
Anna was very intelligent and created an investment club. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. For many years, she hosted an annual Christmas open house party for all her friends and family. Anna attended the launch of Apollo 13 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Anna is survived by four of her children: Margo Matheny, Michael Martin, John Martin, David Martin and wife Lori; as well as multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Tom, Thad, and Bob Baker; daughter-in-law, Lisa Martin; and her son, Frank Martin.
Viewing will be Friday, January 31 beginning at 10 am just prior to a memorial service at 1 pm at Smith & Kernke 23rd Street Chapel. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
