“Well done good and faithful servant," Anna "Marie" Rush McAuliffe. Marie, age 92, died at Mercy hospital surrounded by her children. She was born August 2, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas and Emma Rush. She was the eldest daughter of 11 children. She attended St. Francis grade school and graduated from Marquette High School in 1937. She married Richard Marvin McAuliffe in 1947. Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her 7 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Marie's professional administrative assistant career included working for a Tulsa physician, St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing, OKC Community Council and United Appeal. In 1970 she began work for Neighborhood Services Organization where she dedicated 22 years of her life helping Oklahomans in need. Her passion, her true calling in life was serving those in need whether it was the aging, the developmentally disabled, the poor, the homeless, the downtrodden, or resettling immigrants. Her volunteer work included over 45 years at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she served on numerous committees and was recognized as their "Woman of Achievement" in 1984. Other volunteer work included Rosary School, Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, Mens Firstep and Allied Arts. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and her husband Richard M. McAuliffe. She is survived by her 7 children Dianna Swartz & husband Barry, Jeanne McAuliffe, Rick McAuliffe, Pat McAuliffe, Mike McAuliffe, Mary Stancampiano & husband Tony, Deborah Senner & husband Scott; brother Don Rush & wife Jackie; sisters Ellen Geiger, Margaret Greener, Sr. M. Daria Rush, Mary Cole; & sister in law Rose Rush. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. Marie was beautiful always, strong when she needed to be and generous to the core. Her Catholic faith brought her peace, joy and comfort. Marie will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the hundreds whose lives she touched through the years. The family wishes to thank St. Ann's Retirement Community and the staff of Mercy Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation will be at Smith & Kernke N. May on Sunday, February 17, 12pm-5pm followed by a Rosary at 6pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1901 NW 18, on Monday, February 18 at 11am. Graveside Service will follow at 3pm in Tulsa at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Rosary School, Neighborhood Services Organization or through random acts of kindness.
