Annie "Lorain" Whetsel

What a magnificent homecoming when Annie Lorain Whetsel, 87 years young, was spirited away on angels' wings to her Heavenly home. After being greeted by her Savior, she was welcomed by Ralph "Bill" Whetsel, husband of 51 yrs, granddaughters Martha Evans & Rebecca Whetsel, daughter-in-law Darlene Whetsel, father John Williams, mother Frances Rippetoe, siblings Grayden Keatts, Gobern Keatts, Lilac Duran, & LaVerne Batte. While we will miss our precious mother here on earth, she is rejoicing in Heaven with our Lord & she will always watch over us as she waits for us to join her. This sweet lady cared about people in a way that is rare these days & took great pride in the accomplishments of her family. Born in Grandbury TX, Lorain married Bill Whetsel in 1944, working at Leonard Brothers Dept Store in Fort Worth while Bill attended Southwestern Seminary. Together they would later pastor churches in Texas & Oklahoma, including establishing Westminister Road Baptist in Midwest City. Bill preached & Lorain played the piano, taught Sunday School and Bible study. In 1949, Bill & Lorain moved to Midwest City & in 1966 moved to Edmond. In 1960, Bill & Lorain purchased Northeast Hardware which they operated for 12 yrs before retiring in 1972. For years Lorain taught Sunday School & Bible studies for young ladies at First Baptist Edmond. Lorain later attended Edmond Road Baptist & was called "Sunshine Lady" for sending cards, bringing food or visiting those who in need of joy. Those Lorain leaves to meet her later include daughters Dorcas & David Krauss of Temple TX, Rhoda & Norris Evans of Edmond, Mary & Steve Bowersox of Nichols Hills, son Sheriff John and Mitzi Whetsel of Choctaw; grandchildren Jonathan & Jeremy Krauss, John Paul Evans, Stacy & Brock Moore, Jonna Whetsel, Lindsey & Art Tuttle; great-grandchildren Zachary Krauss, Caitlin, Kailey and Bailey Moore, & Trae Tuttle; the Jack & Martha Whetsel family of Austin TX & the Fred & John Whetsel families of McAlester OK. Lorain's body will be interred at Memorial Park, but her precious and sweet spirit is already in a higher, nobler realm where neither pain nor anguish can touch her and where she walks and talks with Jesus.
