Babette Joy Millstone Orenstein went to play mah jonghh with her old game on December 18, 2014. Born on November 10, 1921 to Herman and Minnie Millstone, she grew up in St. Louis, MO, graduated from Washington University in 1943, and married Jacques Orenstein on October 27, 1943. They were fixed up on a blind date to a Sigma Alpha Mu dance which led to a great marriage until Jacques' death in 2001.
She is survived by sons Lon Orenstein (Bonnie), Jon Orenstein (Cindy), and granddaughter Lisa Stolper (Jeff).
Special thanks to Mollie Hirsch and Sherry Bennett for sending the fabulous caregivers to help: Helen Dawson, Agnes Mugo, LaSonya Bowler, Abigail Amah, Lilah Rockson, and Kosha Clayton are special angels who made Babette's last days comfortable. The people of Crossroads Hospice were consistently professional, caring, and were always quick to respond.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00pm, Friday, December 19, at Temple B'Nai Israel cemetery at 13400 N. Kelley near N. Memorial Road. Donations can be made to Temple B'Nai Israel or charity of your choice.
