Barbara Anspaugh

Barbara Anspaugh was the daughter of Dr. Robert D. Anspaugh and Marguerite Martin Anspaugh. She was born on May 31, 1947 and departed life on March 9, 2017. Barbara was an Oklahoma City native, attending Edgemere Elementary school, graduating from Harding High School in 1965. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, graduating in 1967. Barbara worked for 29 years for her father, Dr. Anspaugh. Upon his retirement, she continued to work in the medical industry. She worked at Dr. Rogers & Dr. Renfroe for 3 years, and finished her career working at the Great Plains Medical Residence Program for the past 13 years. She retired on December 23, 2016. Barbara was very active in the community. She was a member of Junior Hospitality from 1978 to 1986 and then became a Sustainer. She would always participate in activities such as the Town Hall lecture series, the Brookhaven Neighborhood Association, and would never miss a Harding "Class of 65" reunion at Johnnies to catch up with old friends and share stories. She enjoyed sharing books with her friends and neighbors, ranging on a wide variety of topics. Other interests included knitting, going to the movies, and traveling. She was always planning for "the next cruise". Besides her love of community, her number one love was her friends and family. Barbara was known for her hospitality and graciousness. She always looked forward to the holidays so she could spend more time with her loved ones. When asked about her proudest accomplishment, she said, without hesitation, that it was her two daughters, Brooke and Bliss. Barbara was that COOL mom who would take her daughters and their friends to Graffiti Bridge and Sammy's Pizza during all those Friday night sleepovers. Besides how to show school pride, she taught them practical skills as well like how to take care of themselves, and to be independent women. She also treasured the time she got to spend with her granddaughters, Alexis and Emma. From the time they were both very young, they spent almost every Friday night with their Mimi. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marguerite Anspaugh, and her uncle Rex Anspaugh. She is survived by her daughters, Brooke Wilson and her husband Carter with their children Alexis and Emma, Bliss Carr and her husband Chris, brother Robert W. Anspaugh, her beloved dog Shelby, and numerous other family members and friends that will miss her greatly. Please join her friends and family for a celebration of the life of Barbara Anspaugh at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 20th.
