Barbara June Wright

Barbara June Wright passed away on August 10, 2015 in Oklahoma City following an extended illness. June was born April 22, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Paul and Annie Laurie Blackwell. June is survived by her husband, Thornton Wright Jr. and they had recently celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 13th of this year and by her son James Michael McGee and wife, Sherri McGee, and her daughter Laurie Paulette Newman and by her grandchildren Paige Erickson, nee McGee, Paul McGee, Justin McGee, Dr. Emily Lovison Newman and Allison June Newman, and three great grandchildren, Caroline, Miles and Anna Erickson, her step-son Joseph T. Wright and wife Judith Ann Wright. June graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1948 and Southern Methodist University in 1952 where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi sorority. June was a very talented lady and avid horseman, a lover of all stray animals and of her four Arabian horses, Mernad, Myskyrt, Chalinj and Sharki. She was excellent golfer and enjoyed the "9 holes" ladies group at Twin Hills for many years. Her association with friends and her deep love for her family were foremost. June volunteered at St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary for many years which she truly enjoyed. June is of the Christian Faith and thru her early life attended the Cliff Temple Baptist Church of Dallas and in her adult life attended Nichols Hills Methodist Church, Village Methodist Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. June was not only my wife but the love of my life and my closest friend! The family wishes to thank Bright Star Care for their in home aid and to the physicians and staff of the Integris Hospice House for their professional and compassionate care of June and to her family. Graveside service will be held 11am, Thursday, August 13th at Rose Hill Patio Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to your favorite charity.
