Barbara "Bobbie" (Silva) Steele was born March 13, 1920 in West Warwick, Rhode Island to Mary Pinhiera and Manuel Silva. She was the second oldest of 14 siblings, 10 sisters and three brothers. After graduation from high school she attended and graduated from nursing school. When World War II broke out she enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps. She served overseas on the front lines and while in New Caledonia she met Lt. Joe Steele. Barbara and Joe retired from the Army after the war, she as Captain and he a Colonel. Barbara and Joe married and had three children Joy Lynn "Duchess" Moore, Joe Steele and Susan Kierl. She continued her nursing career in Oklahoma City and was a long time member of Christ the King Church. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 51 years Joe. She is survived by five sisters and three brothers, countless nieces and nephews, eitght grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Barbara was an amazing, strong but kind person who lived her life by her Catholic faith. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Monday April 11th at Christ the King Catholic Church followed by interment and military honors at Resurrection Cemetery.
