Bernardine James Martin

Bernardine (Bernie) J. Martin passed away Thursday, February 28 at his home. He was born August 7, 1928 the son of Mable Alexander Martin and Earl Martin. He grew up in Copenhagen, NY and graduated from Copenhagen Central School and St. Lawrence University. He served two years in the Army in Germany between high school and college. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rosemarie Vogt. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Martin, and children, Lynn, Janet, Michael, and Scott Martin and Caroline (Brent) Quinn. He is also survived by two grandsons, Braden and Kyle Quinn and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie came to Oklahoma City in 1963 with the General Electric Company, transferred to Phoenix, AZ in 1965 and then returned in 1969. He worked as an accountant for Honeywell and Control Data, retiring from SeagateTechnology in 1995. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, spending time with his family and friends and gardening. The Wake Service will be held at Smith and Kernke at 7pm on Tuesday, March 5. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 10 am at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice and the many caregivers for the kindness and care given to Bernie and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Catholic Charities.
