Bernice Kamp Wey was born Nov. 28, 1925 in Oklahoma City. She died Mar. 27, 2015. The only daughter of Henry H Kamp (founder of Kamp Bros. Grocery) and Anna Nolte Kamp. She was a graduate of Classen High School and Oklahoma City University. While at OCU, she was affiliated with Phi Delta Sorority and later Alpha Chi Omega. She was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Norton Wey; her father and mother; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter (Leona), Henry (Lorraine), Alfred (Dora), Frederick (Joanne), and Raymond. She is survived by three daughters, Annamarie Cooper (Steve), Alyson Bailey (Alan) and Karen Smola (Bob); nine grandchildren, Adam, Elaine, Claire, and Ann Cooper, Nick and Natalie Bailey, John (Cassi), Rob (Kara), and Carl (Jacy) Smola; sister-in-law Mary Lyle Kamp; 14 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Bernice loved her family, and was proud of the role that Kamp Bros. Grocery played in our city's history. The family wishes to thank all of the people who lovingly cared for Bernice during the final years of her life. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30th at Smith & Kernke, 1401 N. W. 23rd St., Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 N. W. 25th St., Oklahoma City, on Tuesday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Oklahoma Library for the Blind.
