On Wednesday, May 11 the angels carried our precious mother to be with our Lord and Savior and our sweet father, Orval, whom we lost in July 2006. She was taken from us due to a sudden onset of a rare blood disorder. Bertha Lee Anderson (Porter) was born on October 5, 1923 to Ray and Daisy Porter. She grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City High School where she met and fell in love with her soul mate, Orval Anderson. After following Orval on his tour of duty during World War II, they settled again in OKC. Their first daughter, Sandra was born and six years later another daughter, Gayle was born. In the years to follow-after the war, Bertha and Orval took over the family business, Anderson's Barber & Beauty Supply. Bertha became a sharp business woman as well as a very loving and caring mother. They ran their business together for 55 years. Orval passed away five years ago July. Being the strong, determined woman she always was she and her daughter, Gayle, continued to keep the business running. The respect and friendship of customers allowed Bertha the continued success of operating a family/owned business that spanned the better of 84 years. The love and dedication Bertha had for her business was second only to the love and dedication she had for her family. Bertha is survived by her daughter and so-in-law, Sandra & Bill Clemons, and daughter, Gayle Edwards; Four Grandchildren, Craig and wife, Debbie Clemons, Cassie and husband, Randy Taylor, Shane and wife, Robin Edwards, Angie and husband, John Cain; ten Great-Grandchildren, Courtney, Davis, Crissy, Brandon, Ramie, Christian, Ashley, Anne, Braden and Colten. A Sister-In-Law, JoAnn and Bob Padgett and Brother-In-Law, Dale and Jo Anderson. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Deaconess 3rd floor CCU for their compassionate and tender care. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 9am-6pm at Smith & Kernke. The family will greet visitors from 4pm-7pm. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Smith & Kernke Chapel. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
