Beryl Porter was born at home in Cox City, Oklahoma in 1917 to Doyle and Maggie Harrison. Beryl rode a horse to Cox City School, which she attended through High School. She was the Salutatorian of her graduating class. Beryl was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. She attended Droughn's Business School in Oklahoma City and worked at C.R. Anthony as a bookkeeper and at Rothchild's at Penn Square. She married Robert Porter in 1940 with Elisa Gail Porter as their only child. Beryl and Bob were married for 50 years and attended St. Luke's Church in Oklahoma City and the Clyde Harrison Sunday School Class. She is survived by her daughter Elisa Prentice and her husband Ken Prentice and also her grandson Justin Hester and his daughter Jade Hester. Her brother Daniel Harrison and wife Mary Harrison, and her sister-in-law June Honiker also survives her. Beryl was an accomplished artist in both pastel and oil painting. She belonged to the Oklahoma Art Guild and the Pastel Society. She showed her paintings in many galleries and art shows and won numerous awards. Graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, without a reception on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
