Betty Herd Smith

Betty was the only child born to Roy and Ada Herd. She attended and graduated from Classen High School in 1939. After high school she went to the University of Oklahoma where she met the love of her life Gomer Smith, Jr. and they married on May 2, 1941. They moved around to various locations while Gomer was serving in the United States Army during World War II. She is preceded in death by her parents. Betty is survived by her husband of 74 years, Gomer; daughter, Carol Murdock (Dan); son, Gomer "Buzz" Smith III (Kathy); three grandchildren, Andrea Greer (James), Tracey Coleman and Craig Murdock (Amanda); and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to thank a dear friend of nearly 40 years Mary Black for her caregiving, compassion and support. They would like to also thank the entire staff of Villagio Senior Living. Additional thanks to Heartland Hospice especially Kathy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel.
