Betty Lou (Kapka) Brown was born October 12, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harlan and Ruth (Warlick) Kapka. Betty passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was 88.
Betty was a 1946 graduate of Britton High School and went on to graduate from the OU School of Nursing. She enjoyed a career in nursing for over 40 years working at Children's and Baptist Integris Hospital. She was a long-time member of Village United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered by preparing meals each week for Mobile Meals. In her younger days she enjoyed square dancing and camping. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, JoAnne Kapka Murphy. Survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray Brown of Bixby, OK; daughter, Nancy Nakayama and husband Yas of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Marsha Grimm and husband Russell of Bixby, OK; grandson, Ryan Grimm and wife Kendra of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Whitney Grimm of Bixby, OK; great-granddaughter, Finnley Grimm of Denver, CO; brother, Jerry Kapka and wife Davon of Yukon, OK; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Village United Methodist Church with burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
