Betty Louise Neyer, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25, in Oklahoma City. She was born on October 12, 1927 to parents Philip James Keough Sr. and Mary Josephine (Muller) Keough. Betty was a lifelong Oklahoma City resident. She attended Corpus Christi Elementary, St. Joseph Catholic School in OKC, and was a high school graduate of John Carroll. She later attended Oklahoma City University where she studied journalism. Betty married Joseph Leo Neyer, Jr. on June 11, 1948, with whom she raised their six children. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. She was a secretary and business office manager, and worked until the age of 88. Betty was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She was guided by a strong faith, and was lovingly devoted to her children, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She had a warm-hearted personality, and kept a loving, joyful, optimistic spirit. She was strong and resilient. She was awarded the prestigious honor of being woman of the year by the Oklahoma Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, and her family was honored as the family of the year for the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed a life-long hobby of playing bridge with friends and nearly always winning, including a victory this past Tuesday. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings Philip, James, Richard, Joseph, Mary Jo, and Francine (Bebe); infant daughter Janice Leigh Neyer; and grandson Quaid Thomas (Q.T.) Dolan. She leaves behind cherished memories with her son, Joe Leo Neyer, III and wife Mona; daughters, Cynthia Hickman and husband Jerry, Debbie Espinosa and husband Sid, Elizabeth Neyer, Sheryl Dolan and husband Brian, and Christina Neyer; sister, Patricia Daly; and many, many other relatives and friends.
