Beverly J. Reed (nee Pomeroy), 77 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died Saturday, September 14, 2013. Beverly was born March 30, 1936 in North Olmstead, Ohio to Robert C. and Helen M. Pomeroy. She is preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, James Duane (Bucky) Reed, and her son, Bobby Jack Reed. She is survived by her son Thomas Duane Reed of Oklahoma City, three grandchildren, Carter Austin Reed of Oklahoma City, Beverly Madison Reed and James Cutter Reed, both of Crescent, OK, one great-grandson, Samuel Asher Boyd of Crescent, OK and her brother Bob Pomeroy (Mary) of St. Louis, MO, and her companion, Bill Burks. Beverly moved to Oklahoma City in 1948 and attended Central High School and Oklahoma City University. Beverly was married to the love of her life, Bucky Reed, for forty years prior to his death in 1997. Together they owned and operated several restaurant chains including Kips Big Boy, Roy Rogers, Pizza Planet, Crockets BBQ, and Rex's Chicken. Bucky ran the businesses as Beverly kept a watchful eye on the financial side. Her boys, Bobby Jack and Tommy, were the light of her life and she was very supportive of all of their activities in their growing-up years, as well as in their adult lives with their own families. Beverly loved and always encouraged her grandchildren as well. In the early years, weekends were made for family and friends with outings to Lake Murray and waterskiing, resulting in Bobby Jack and Tommy developing into world class skiers. Later they transferred their lake activities to Grand Lake and their more leisurely cruiser. Beverly loved to gather with friends and family, especially for holidays and special occasions. Tommy commented that the most fun he had growing up was doing things with Buck and Beverly. Beverly is lovingly remembered and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
