Jane Prisk

Beverly Jane Prisk passed away in Oklahoma City on May 28, 2024. She was born September 23, 1921 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Charles W. and Nellie G. (Lee) Butrem. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she and her siblings lived in an orphanage operated by the Franciscan Sisters. Her father, devasted by the death of their mother, would visit on weekends and bring fresh fruit, a true luxury at the time.

Jane graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and taught elementary school for 40 years in Missouri, Iowa, and Wisconsin. In 1982, she married Chester H. Prisk in Shell Knob, Missouri; he passed away in 1992 after only 10 years of marriage.

Jane was a strong, faithful Catholic. She was a longtime member of Christ the King and, after moving to St. Ann’s, enjoyed attending daily Mass there.

She had a “spicy” sense of humor and loved bright colors, complimenting her bright personality. She was a voracious reader, often reading the St. Ann’s Newsletter several times a day. At St. Ann’s, especially during COVID, she loved going outside, enjoying nature and soaking up vitamin D. She also enjoyed watching the birds, feeding them a couple of times a day.

In addition to her husband, Chester, she was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. Jane is survived by her nephews, William, Charles, Ronald and Glenn, as well as many extended relatives and friends.

A special “Thank You” to her great niece and nephew, Patty Prisk and Steve Prisk, who sent thoughtful, sweet letters; to Cathleen Sherman, for her loving care of Jane; to all at Good Shepherd Hospice, who took great care of her; to Patty Labarthe, a good friend for over eight years; and to her family at St. Ann’s Retirement Center.
