Today, we gather to honor and remember a true hero, Brigadier General Frank Mataranglo. Born on Christmas Day in 1940 and passed away at his home in Edmond on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. He lived a life dedicated to service, sacrifice, and courage. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he went on to serve in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars for his acts of valor. His dedication to his country and his fellow soldiers earned him the nickname "Soldier's General," a title he wore with pride.
Frank was more than just an officer; he was a gentleman. He was a devoted and loving husband to Karen, a devoted father to Elizabeth and Keith, a doting grandfather to Anthony, Zara, and Christian, and a respected member of the community. His integrity, bravery, and unwavering faith in God were qualities that he lived out in every aspect of his life. As a husband, he was loving and supportive. As a father and grandfather, he was a guiding light, a north star, and a role model. As a business owner and respected member of the community, he was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration.
Frank will be remembered for his selflessness, his courage, and his unwavering commitment to his country and his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
