Bill Davis

William R. Davis, affectionately known as “Billy Ray,” was born on December 11, 1931, in Maud, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2025. Born during the heart of the Great Depression to his parents, Emma and Bill Davis, Bill was welcomed into the world alongside his beloved big sister, Eva Lea.

Growing up in the bustling oil country of Southern Oklahoma, Bill's childhood was shaped by the hum of pump jacks and the sight of drilling rigs that dotted the landscape. He often recounted the story of his humble beginnings, born in a tent near Maud Lake without the presence of a doctor. From those early days in a tent to a modest shotgun house, his upbringing was a testament to resilience and determination.

Bill graduated from Guymon High School, served in the Army and went on to earn his undergraduate degree before attending the University of Oklahoma School of Law. His passion for the law was evident throughout his 50+ years as a dedicated personal injury attorney in Oklahoma City. He was a proud member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, member of the Bourassa Family CPN. He served as an Associate District Judge for numerous years for Citizen Potawatomi Nation from June 2010 to current. Bill's career was marked by his commitment to justice, and he touched the lives of countless individuals with his advocacy and compassion.

Bill shared over five decades of loving marriage with his wife, Martha. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, laughter, and cherished memories. Their travels took them around the world, and they reveled in dancing, game nights with friends, and an active social scene that brought them joy. After Martha’s passing, Bill shared his last few years with his beloved dog, Molly, who was a true companion to him.

Family held a special place in Bill's heart. He adored his parents and sisters, treasuring the stories and memories they created together. His admiration for Eva Lea was unwavering, and he lovingly cared for his younger sister, Sandra, throughout his life. His deep knowledge of his family history was a source of pride and a cherished topic of conversation.

Bill's passions extended beyond his profession and family. He had a profound love for music and a keen interest in politics, particularly his support for the Democratic Party. He was an enthusiastic fan of the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Thunder, rarely missing a game and cheering on his teams with great fervor.

William R. Davis leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the stories, laughter, and memories he so generously shared.
