Blair Ellen Cox Kirkby, 65 of Oklahoma City & Daytona, FL, passed from this life on January 2, 2020 after a brief illness. Named after her beloved Grandfather Harry E. Blair, she was born to Dr. Marcus L. Cox, M.D. and Patty Palmer Cox at St. Anthony Hospital in OKC on May 11, 1954. Blair was raised in Oklahoma City and attended Casady School, Chatham Hall Boarding School in Chatham, VA, and was proud to be in the 2nd graduating class of Heritage Hall (Class of 1972). Blair attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX then returned to attend Oklahoma City University. After college, Blair became the business manager for her father's medical practice, and then joined the staff of the OKC 89ers Baseball Club which her family owned and operated as the Director of Group Sales. Blair also attended OSU-OKC where she excelled in the Nurse Science A.A.S. program and was a certified LPN working in numerous nursing homes and medical facilities. Blair has two wonderful daughters; Claudia Palmer Erisman; and Marian Paige Nation (Husband, Austin) and 2 beautiful granddaughters; Rowan Nation & Aubree Nation. Blair loved taking vacations and attending concerts and plays with her daughters. She loved to spend quiet moments together enjoying each other's company. She was a wonderful grandmother and especially loved to do arts and crafts and read with her granddaughters. Blair loved to spend most of her time reading, always falling asleep with a book in her hand. She loved to relax outside, soaking up as much sun as she could. Living her life to the fullest, she traveled the world, including India, Europe, Costa Rica, Panama, and more. Blair was an extremely creative person, from painting to drawing, and sewing the most beautiful Christmas stockings for her family.Blair had so much love to give in her life. She loved the father to her children, Mark Erisman. The love she experienced for Lynn Ricks and Norm Kirkby, now deceased, was unmatched. They both loved her daughters as their own. Blair was preceded in death by her oldest child who died at birth, Patricia Leigh; her father, Dr. Marcus L. Cox, M.D., stepfathers Bing Hampton and Robert "Bob" Roloff, and her older brother Mark Cox, Jr..Blair is survived by her mother Patty Cox Hampton Roloff; her daughters Claudia Palmer Erisman; Marian Paige Nation and her husband, Austin Brant Nation; and her beloved granddaughters; Rowan Madison Nation & Aubree Lynn Nation. Blair is also survived by brother; Michael Cox and his wife Debbie O'Toole Cox; sister: Claudia Cox Phillips; and 3 Nieces; Ann Marie Martin, Morgan Bowling and Whitney Alexander (husband, Jon). Some of Blair's happiest times when she was growing up were spent with her cousins; Marian & Jim Durst , Doug & Harriet Ervin, Patty Brunges, Ken & Theresa Ervin, Leigh & Eddie Thompson, Chris & Patsy Palmer, Steve & Lessie Palmer, & Emily Blaess.A celebration of Blair's life will take place at 2 pm on Monday January 6, 2020 at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel located at 14624 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. A reception to greet the family will take place immediately after the service.
