Bonnie Jo Vermillion, 84, of Edmond, OK passed away suddenly on June 19, 2016 surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born on July 18, 1931 in Fleetwood, OK, to J.C. and Evelyn Peacock. Bonnie graduated high school from Terral High School and then OCW with an education degree in 1953. While in Chickasha, OK, she met and later married the love of her life, Bobbie Joe Vermillion "Babe," on December 31, 1952. Bonnie taught in Pocasset and Cement, OK. When Bonnie and Bob moved to Edmond in 1968 she taught at several Edmond elementary schools, retiring from teaching 5th grade at Northern Hills in 1987. She enjoyed traveling to Santa Fe, NM, shopping for turquoise jewelry and visiting art galleries. She and Bob also attended numerous western art shows in Montana and for many years enjoyed the Prix de West in OKC. She was always spending time with youngest nieces, Anne and Susan, and they helped us all to know her as "Aunt Bonnie." Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, half sister Peggy Abrams, half brother John McCully, in-laws F.E.(Red) and Elsie Vermillion, sister-in-laws, Betty Jean Adams and Ila Marie Kunau, her niece Kathryn Anne Kunau, and great nephew Zachary Jones. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Kathryn V (Katie) Browne of Denver, CO, brother-in-law, Richard F (Rick) Vermillion and wife Sarah of Edmond, OK, nephew Richard Abrams of Costa Rica, niece Margie Abrams-Erbe and husband Don of Imperial Beach, CA. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews: James Kunau (Betsy) and daughter Caroline; James Adams (Kathy) and children Spencer (Heidi), Mallory; Sara Adams Tsuboi (Ken); Tamra Browne, Kristen Browne; Juila Kunau Jones, Elizabeth Kunau Rolls (Chris); Anne Vermillion Emberson (Jake) and Susan Vermillion Harroz (Nick III). Bonnie was laid to rest by Bobbie in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, OK. A memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5th at Smith Kernke Chapel. In lieu of flowers, her family request contributions be made to Edmond Public Schools Foundation, 1001 W. Danforth Road, Edmond, OK 73003.
