Bruce L. Goree

Bruce L. Goree, 57, of Oklahoma City passed quickly and unexpectedly from this earth on September 20th 2014 in his home with the love of his life and wife of 31 years Cathy. Bruce was born October 14th, 1956 at US Naval Hospital - Town Lake, just outside of Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ann Thomas and Sharron Lothe. A graduate of Nuremberg High School ('74) where he excelled both academically and athletically, Bruce briefly went to college on a baseball scholarship before accepting the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force. Once enlisted, Bruce continued his education earning his Bachelors in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in Computer Science from Embry Riddle University. After proudly serving in active military duty for nearly 22 years, Bruce retired as a Captain from the United States Air Force on February 29th, 1996. He then continued working for the military as a civilian contractor, first as an instructor for Boeing Aerospace and most recently as the Director of Business Development for Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma. As accomplished and well respected as Bruce was in the professional world, his family was his proudest achievement. Bruce met the love of his life Catherine while stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. After a whirlwind courtship they were married and quickly relocated to Bitburg, Germany where they welcomed the first of their two sons, Christopher Michael before returning stateside. After brief stints in Florida and Texas, they were stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma where they welcomed their second son Nicholas James. OU Football, The Green Bay Packers, spending time outside and bragging about his family to all that would listen were Bruce's passions. The one thing Bruce was so very proud of besides the love of his wife and the successes of his sons were his two daughter-in-laws, Elizabeth and Lan; They truly made the family complete and ensured the legacy of another generation of Goree's. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Catherine Marie Goree of Oklahoma City; His son and daughter-in-law Nicholas James and Lan Goree of Edmond; His son and daughter-in-law Christopher Michael and Elizabeth Goree of Houston, Tx whom are expecting Bruce's first grandchild; His sister Fawn Custer of Seal Rock, Or; His brother Chip and sister Margaret; Five nieces and nephews; Friends Bob and Shelly Morgan of Edmond; Friends Mark and Dana Hanson of Las Vegas; And far too many other friends and coworkers to list. Preceded in death were his father Sharron Lothe, Mother Ann (Thomas) Matz, Grandfather Bill Goree, Grandmother Kate Speegle, and Uncle Joel Goree. Bruce's wishes were to have his ashes spread among his favorite places. A memorial will be placed beside his pre-deceased family in Decatur, Alabama. Memorial Services will be held Friday September 26th at 10 o' clock in the morning at Crossings Community Church Chapel in Northwest Oklahoma City.
