Bryce Martin

Charles Bryce Martin, Jr. died July 8, 2021 at his home with his loving family at his side. Bryce was born May 30, 1944 to Charles Sr. and Oneta Laverne (Haught) Martin in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Bryce graduated from Chickasha high school in 1962. He was enrolled to begin college courses that following fall at OSU. The Cuban Missile Crisis prompted Bryce to instead join the U.S. Navy with his buddy C.D. Stroud. He entered the submarine division and helped build the SSBM 645 James K. Polk out of New London Groton, Connecticut which was launched the 22nd of May in 1965. Bryce remained in the Navy for seven years until 1969. He married Barbara Jan Albright and from their union three girls were born, Jana "Michelle," Monica Joy and Holly Nicole. Bryce's career led him to work for Honeywell for several years before founding his own company, RIG FINDERS, competing with petroleum information. In 1990 Bryce married Cheryl Crain Slaight Starcevich and became stepfather to her three children, Jennifer, John and Scott Starcevich. Together, Bryce and Cheryl built a company known as Marketing Etc. which included an area newspaper, a real estate company, a computer company, and a business phone systems company. Upon his retirement in 2009, he and Cheryl continued traveling and sharing adventures by air-car-cruise ships and eight different RV's. Bryce was fun-loving, generous to a fault and a rule-breaker who was ready to go at the drop of his many "hats." He was preceded in death by parents, and brothers, Paul, Bill, Jack and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, seven months and two days, Cheryl; his three adored girls, Michelle Martin of Taos, NM, Monica Martin of Dallas, and Holly and Preston Rodgers of Lantana, Texas; stepchildren Jennifer and Kelly Clark of OKC, Jamie and John Starcevich of Lenexa, Kansas and Scott Starcevich. Bryce is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Lilian Bryce and Maxwell Edwin Rodgers, Parker and Mia Easton, Kendall, Karlie and Lainey Starcevich; and siblings, Jeanette Pyles of Yukon and Tom Martin of OKC. Thank you to Bryce's special friends, Phillip A. Noisey, Phil Phillips, Dee Minadeo, Nancy and Ray Kitko, Marty and Steve Slaight, Beulah Howell, Betty and Rolly Cowperthwaite, Carri DuPoint, Paul Graves, Alex Broome, C.D. Stroud, Ron Brooksher, and Suzi and David Houston. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Make Promises Happen, Guthrie, Okla. in honor of Scott Starcevich and memory of Bryce Martin. Please join the celebration of Bryce's amazing life at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. You are encouraged to dress in casual clothing and have a story ready to share if you'd like.
