C. Jay died peacefully on October 30 with his wife at his side, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and treasured pets. Born in Salina, Kansas, on July 12, 1943, he was the cherished only child of Lyal M Everhart and Florene F. Shelton Everhart. He grew up in Gypsum, Kansas, a small town where he learned to treasure family and friends, and where he grew-up to be a man of integrity, faith and a great love of baseball. C. Jay graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS and attended graduate school at Hays State and Emporia State. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife of 46 years, Theresa M. Everhart (Teri). They shared an enduring love and that enabled them both to transition through the ravages of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 45 years of Government service. He is survived by his wife and four adult children: Kristin Taylor, Kathryn Ragan, Mark Everhart and Anne Dail. He has twelve grandchildren and many, many relatives and friends who will miss him tremendously. He dearly loved his family and lived an exemplary life modeling to them how to love and be loved. Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel.
