Carl Calvin Tuter "Papa" was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 27, 1923, and went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2014. Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife Gwendolyn Irene; parents Eilsha Guy and Willie Mae Tuter; siblings Melvin Tuter, Ethel Coburn and Thelma Shelby. He was survived by his children: son David Tuter and wife Lou Ann, son Billy Tuter and daughter Susan Tuter; grandchildren Ryan Tuter and wife Alicia, Brad Tuter, Casey Tuter and wife Claire, Stacy Friesen and husband Tory; great-grandchildren Addison Tuter, Blake Tuter and Dylan Tuter, all of Oklahoma City; as well as numerous other relatives and friends that he loved dearly.
He attended Central High School in Oklahoma City, and enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He served as a Staff Sergeant in World War II fighting on D-Day at Normandy Beach. He retired from the Oklahoma Publishing Company in 1985. He loved his family, serving the Lord and was a lifetime member at Kelham Baptist Church. In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening and raising quail. He was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Braves. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Kelham Baptist Church, 3400 N. Meridian, OKC with Interment to follow with military honors at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
