Carol S. Hyde was born in Paintsville, KY on October 15, 1934. She passed from this earthly plane after a brief battle with cancer and declining health issues on Saturday, August 15, 2015. She came from humble beginnings in eastern Kentucky and knew many hometowns (Chicago, Detroit and Cincinnati) growing up with the economic realities of the time and her parent's frequent employment relocations. After graduating from Western Hills HS in Cincinnati, OH at age 16, she attended U of Cincinnati where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1955. Shortly thereafter she married the love of her life Dave Hyde on June 11, 1955. Though she spent the rest of her life as a wife, homemaker and mother she was active in many outside activities and organizations including the Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was also a founding board member for the Ronald McDonald House serving as fund raising coordinator. She was active in the Geologist Wives Association, as President twice and filled several other official positions over the years. Three of her biggest pleasures in life were playing bridge, tap dancing and reading. She was a member of several bridge clubs, danced with the Lynda Tarpley Tappers for 20+ years, worked the crossword puzzles every day and frequently was reading 2 or 3 books at a time. Carol was preceded in death by her infant daughter Katharine Elizabeth, parents William Homer and Georgia Riffe Shearer, brother Stephen Michael Shearer; husband David Edward Hyde; and grandson Noah Edward Jones. She is survived by her daughters Victoria Anne Hyde (David Petschel), Andrea Susan Anderson (Eric) and Rebecca Lynne Jones (Victor); grandchildren Adam S. Kreloff, Lise and Hanna Anderson, and Brittany and Courtney Jones; aunt Phyllis June Castle; and numerous cousins nieces and nephews. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and many loving friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Kappa Delta Sorority and/or the Ronald McDonald House Charities (rmhc.org). Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm, at Smith and Kernke N. May. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 20, 2015 at Smith and Kernke N. May Chapel.
