Carol Lynn Cox Liebmann passed away on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family members in her native Oklahoma City. She will forever be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother.Carol was born in Oklahoma City on December 17th, 1937 to Irene Croom Cox and Robert Leonard Cox, an Oklahoma City attorney. It was as a toddler in the sandbox in her parents' back yard in Crown Heights that she first met her husband J.G Liebmann III. He was a classmate of her older sister Ann and was one of the many neighbourhood children who regularly played in the Cox back yard. His parents, Barbara and J.G. Liebmann II were also frequent visitors to the Cox home. The Liebmann family were pioneers of ice manufacturing in the states of Oklahoma and Florida. Carol and J did not date until she was a student at the University of Oklahoma, where mutual friends re-introduced them on a supposedly "blind" date. Carol was a proud member of Northwest Classen High School's first graduating class (of 1956). At the University of Oklahoma, Carol set school records (some of which stand today) swimming the butterfly stroke for the university swim team. She also led the water ballet team and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. After graduating with a degree in Interior Design, Carol married J in October 1960. They purchased their first home on Silver Lake, the site of many future family reunions. Carol was a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, a Cub Scout Den Mother, an avid bridge and Mahjong player, an enthusiastic tap dancer and frequent world traveller. Carol and J shared a passion for tennis, which led to her being voted the Oklahoma City Tennis Club's first female president. Carol loved the outdoors, spending many weekends hunting with her family at their ranch near Wellston. Over time, Carol and J began spending more time in the Florida Keys. Eventually they purchased a home in Marathon, Florida and spent many happy years in the Keys fishing, boating, snorkeling and entertaining grandchildren. Carol is survived by her husband J Liebmann, sister Bettie Lu Lancaster (of Fayetteville, Arkansas), sister Ann Sheldon (of Bartlesville, Oklahoma) and three sons: Brad (of London, England), Bart (of Huger, South Carolina) and Blake (of Piedmont, Oklahoma), as well as by seven grandchildren. Carol will be buried in the family plot at Rose Hill Burial Park. A service celebrating Carol's life will be held afterward on Saturday, November 23rd at 3:00pm at Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Alzheimer's Association @ www.alz.org
