Carolyn 'Carolyn Wallace' Wallace

Nancy Carolyn Wallace, 77, fell asleep in the Lord at her home on December 27, 2011, following a lengthy illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Frank and Dorothy Ellison on July 26, 1934 in Houston, Texas, where she grew up. She attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, where she met a handsome student from Westminster College, Harry Wallace, at a college social. They were married July 15, 1953, and faithfully spent the next fifty-eight years together sharing both the joys and sorrows of life. They transferred to Oklahoma City in 1968 with their two sons, Mark and Greg. Carolyn loved people and had an overcoming zeal for life that infected those around her. Through a deep and abiding faith in God, she conquered difficult health issues her whole life and never let hardship defeat her. She was a successful real estate agent with Abide and Group One Real Estate until Harry's job in the oilfield industry transferred them to Singapore for four years. They traveled around the world during this time. Carolyn and Harry loved to travel and spent their golden years on the road. She had her own Gold-Wing Honda and was the classiest lady on a motorcycle. She had a knack for surrounding herself with beauty; whether it be nature, interior design or beautiful clothes. Before her illness, she and Harry went from coast to coast exploring the United States in a beautifully decorated RV. They made lifelong friends everywhere they went. After retiring "from the road," Carolyn spent her last eight years back in Oklahoma City where her son, Mark, and family reside. She loved cooking and experimenting with recipes for her family. Having the family around a table of good food was her delight. She is survived by her husband, Harry, and her two sons, Rev. Father Mark and his wife, Susan, of Oklahoma City and Greg and his wife, Mary, of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters, Andrea, and her husband, Brandon Baca, Rachel Hurst and her husband, Jake, Allison and Amy Wallace, and three grandsons, Jeremy Davis and his wife, Cindy, Seth Davis and his wife, Angela, Joshua Alley and his wife, Jenny; seven great-grandchildren; Olivia, Analeigh, Nora and Benjamin Baca, Pierce and Devon Davis, and Madison Alley. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher, and her parents, Frank and Dorothy Ellison. She leaves behind many close friends, family and faithful caretakers, Tasha Griggs, Stacy Freeman and Melody Spina. Her loss will be felt by all those who knew her. Viewing will be at Smith and Kernke funeral home, from 9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, with Trisagion Prayers at 7 p.m. in the St. George Chapel of St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK. Closing of the casket will also take place in the St. George Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30. The funeral service will be held at St. Elijah's Orthodox Church, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bishop Basil Mission Endowment Fund, 1559 N. Woodlawn Blvd., Wichita, KS., 67208, or the St. Elijah "Flowers That Never Wither Fund." Following the meal of mercy, interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, 2700 N. Shartel, Oklahoma City.
