Carolyn Coley Hubbard passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 23rd, 1943, in Norfolk, VA to Charles Coston and Dorothy Liles Coley. Carolyn graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA in 1961. Following graduation, Carolyn moved to Oklahoma City with her parents after her father retired from the Navy. Carolyn attended Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in French. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she made many friendships that she maintained throughout her life. Later in life, Carolyn furthered her education by earning a Master's Degree in Reading from Central State University (UCO). She began her career in teaching and ended her career with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission where she worked for 20 years. Carolyn's primary focus in life was her three children Cara, Katie and Andrew. She loved them deeply and focused her time and efforts caring for them in every way possible. In 1996, she met the love of her life, Jeff Austin. They had a beautiful relationship and enjoyed traveling and sharing their lives together. She cherished the time she had with her children and grandchildren; and Jeff's family, Jim Austin, Jennifer Hanna, Jeri Lunsford and Mary Austin. Carolyn loved to laugh and be with those she loved. She was preceded in death by her father, Captain Charles Coston Coley, and mother, Dorothy Liles Coley. She is survived by her long-time companion of 20 years, Jeff Austin of Oklahoma City; Daughter, Cara Parent and husband, Kevin, of Oklahoma City; Daughter, Katie Davenport and husband, Brad, of Edmond; Son, Andrew Hubbard and wife, Emily, of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Alex Parent, Catherine Parent, Ava Hubbard, Amelia Davenport and Madeline Hubbard; and Cousin, Charles Coley, of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind her many friends that she considered family. She was a beautiful, kind, honest, strong-willed, wise, and gracious woman. She held such a strong and special presence in our lives and will be missed each and every day. Visitation will be held Friday, January 15th, 2016 at Smith & Kernke (NW 23rd) from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Presbyterian Church.
