Long-time Oklahoma City resident Carolyn Stuart, 76, passed away June 2, 2022, after a 2-year battle with lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Faye Marsh, brother Chuck Marsh, her son's father Ron Wiewel, and husband Dan Stuart. Carolyn is survived by her son Chris Wiewel, his sisters Kim Brock and Sarah Rasbold, Dan's children Becky Chenier (husband John), and Dan Jackson (wife Cheryl), and grandchildren Austin, Lesley, and Chandler Wiewel, who were her pride and joy. She delighted in being their Grammy. Carolyn is also survived by her sisters Jan Plank (husband Gary) and Nancy Quick (husband Tim), brother Henry Marsh (wife Lilly), sister-in-law Dianne Neill (husband Adron), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born Frances Carolyn Marsh in Duncan, Oklahoma, Carolyn grew up as the middle of 5 children. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1964 and attended the University of Oklahoma. She later settled in Oklahoma City for most of her adult life. Carolyn worked as office manager at JRB Art Gallery in the OKC Paseo District for more than 20 years. There, along with her great sense of personal style, she developed a love and good eye for original artwork, especially by Oklahoma artists. She filled her home with art of all types and mediums, creating a cheerful, colorful, and eclectic environment that she enjoyed and loved to share with others. Carolyn moved to Ski Island Lake in Oklahoma City in 2015 and loved the friendly neighborhood and being on the water. She enjoyed community activities, boating, and the great view of the skiers and other boaters speeding by her house everyday. Carolyn was well known through the neighborhood for her spectacular St Patrick's Day parties. Carolyn photographed many breathtaking sunsets on the lake and many of them are on display in her home with her other artwork. Her faith, her family and friends, and her brilliantly creative home, and beautiful sunsets sustained her during the tough times of her illness. Chris and Nancy want to thank SSM St Anthony Oncology and Radiation Oncology, SSM Home Health, Fountains at Canterbury Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living, and Good Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate care during Carolyn's illness. The family will host a Celebration of Life Reception for Carolyn on Friday, June 17th, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, at her Ski Island home. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously in Carolyn's memory to the American Cancer Society, your favorite charity, or any organization that supports the Arts.
