Carrie S. Hulett died on March 15, 2024. She was born on October 16, 1952, to Philip Neal Hulett and Frances D. Hulett in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and her family moved to Oklahoma City when Carrie was four, which was her home for most of her life. Carrie graduated from Northwest Classen High School (1970), Oklahoma City University (1974) and Oklahoma City University Law School (1978).
Carrie married Roger Seymour in 1974 and they lived in Ada, Oklahoma for 1 year. She worked as a legal secretary and was forever thankful for her boss, Charles D. Mayhue, who told her to go to law school. While still in law school, she worked as a law clerk at the firm of Bulla, Horning and Johnson and was hired there as a new lawyer. Over the years the firm changed its name and partners, but her partners, Philip F. Horning, Kent S. Johnson, Roger A. Grove, James R. Moore and Carolyn S. Thompson and their spouses and children remained close friends throughout her life. Carrie was very pleased that her specialty was oil and gas title work because it suited her personality and skill set so well.
Family and friends were very important to Carrie. In 1982 she married Edwin W. Moehlenbrock. They lived in Galveston, Texas for a year and a half, traveled in a Volkswagen van for 6 months and then settled down in Oklahoma City. Being a mother to their children, Scott and Clark, was a great pleasure - especially after the stupid teenage tricks ended. It is so rewarding to see your children grow to become good people and especially heartwarming to see them become good parents.
Carrie was also very close to her extended family of siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and was equally close to the family members in Ed’s family. Carrie was fortunate to have many dear and wonderful friends who enriched her life. Her friends dated back to her grade school days and grew from there. To be Carrie’s friend was to be loved, nurtured, cared for, and counseled. She made so many people think she was their best friend, and nobody was wrong to think it.
Carrie was involved in many professional groups and was an active volunteer. She was especially proud of being one of the team members who helped set up Belle Isle Middle School as a charter school and working for 19 years to put on St. Baldricks events in Oklahoma City with the very best group of volunteers. These events raised over $1.2 million for pediatric cancer research.
Carrie loved traveling and enjoyed all kinds of trips. She loved the family camping trips when the kids were little, countless nights in Taos with the Selby’s, Moehlenbrock family reunions, many gatherings in Fairview with her mom’s extended family, RV trips after retirement, and special trips to Europe, China, Michigan, and Maine. It was equally fun to get together with family or good friends and enjoy good food and fellowship together.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Cynthia Hulett, H. P. “Skip” White, Jr. and Kim Hulett. She is survived by her husband, Edwin W. Moehlenbrock, her son, Scott D. Moehlenbrock, his wife, Katylee , and children, Lyla and Max, her son, Clark W. Moehlenbrock, and his wife, Rachel, her brother, James S. Hulett, and the children of Skip, Jessica Rothwell and Meredith Eastridge, their mother, husbands, and children.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 1 pm at Oklahoma City University Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to St. Baldricks Foundation, Restore OKC, Oklahoma City University or a charity of your choice.
