Catherine Dolores was born on November 24th, 1928 in Oklahoma City to Joseph Amadeus and Mary Alice (Fried) Scholtes. She was the second of eight children. She grew up in Capitol Hill, across the street from Mount Saint Mary's Academy and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where her father was the choir director and organist. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Mount Saint Mary's High School, transferred and graduated from Saint Joseph's High School in downtown Oklahoma City. Afterwards Dolores worked at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City and then Saint Mary's Hospital in Enid, where her responsibilities included working in the dietary department and the maintaining of perpetual inventory. On February 6th, 1954 Dolores married Robert Lee Hawkins, a master sergeant in the United States Air Force, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid, Oklahoma. During the years of her husband's military career Dolores assumed the vocations of devoted mother and homemaker as a growing family travelled to many different locales, afterwards returning to Oklahoma City in 1969.Dolores was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Francis of Assisi parish in Oklahoma City. She had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Robert, and a son, Thomas Francis Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by sisters Anne Wolf, Marjorie Hastings Typer, and Julia Scholtes. She is survived by her sons Robert, John, Paul, Joseph, her daughter Mary and her grandchildren Scott, Allison and Susan. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Scholtes and John Scholtes and her sisters Helen Wolf and Rosalie Munholland.Her children are so very grateful for God's gift of their most wonderful and beloved Mother.
