Chad Bixler

Carl G. Amend, Jr., born in OKC on 11/20/1946, passed away in OKC on 7/27/2012 due to complications from a stroke. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Sr. and Zelma. He is survived by his wife, Sharan, daughters, Tami and Dee, sister-in-law, Lorie, grandchildren, Nicole and Joel, siblings, Anita, Richard, Leo, and Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl attended John Carroll and graduated Bishop McGuiness in 1964 before enlisting in the Navy and serving in Vietnam. While stationed in California, he met the love of his life, Sharan, whom he married in 1966. After serving his country, Carl and Sharan returned to OKC and he began a career with SW Bell, from which he retired after 32 years. Following retirement at SW Bell, Carl served as a consultant in the telecom industry, and most recently began a career in commercial real estate. Ordained as a deacon in 1985, Carl exercised a lifelong devotion to the Catholic Church. His dedication to the church was mirrored by the commitment shown to his family and friends, as well as his decision to be an organ donor. In honor of Carl, the family is asking donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Brain Injury Association of America or the matching fund for Ross Hall at St. Eugene's. A viewing will be held at Smith & Kernke, North May between 9-6 on Tuesday with prayer service following at 7. The mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday at St. Eugene's Catholic Church.
