Charles Douglas Bell

Charles Douglas Bell, affectionately known as Doug, peacefully met his Heavenly Father on November 17, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on August 13, 1936, to Dr. Austin H. Bell and Lucille “Lucy” Boylan Bell.

Doug enjoyed a long career in insurance as the founder of C. Douglas Bell Insurance, where he formed countless meaningful relationships.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years, Debbie Sue Bell, and his brothers, Austin H. Bell Jr. and David William Bell.

Doug’s legacy lives on through his devoted and loving daughters: Kelsey Bell of Oklahoma City; Molly Bell Malone and her husband, Brad, of Germantown, Tennessee; and Natalie Smith and her husband, Jay, of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Martha Puryear of Edmond, as well as his devoted companion of 13 years, Michele Taylor of Frisco, Texas. Doug was the proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.

A longtime, faithful member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church and its Circles Sunday School class, Doug’s faith was central to his life. He also found great happiness in spending time on the golf course, and cheering on the OU Sooners. Doug also enjoyed staying active at the Northside YMCA, where he cultivated enduring friendships over exercise and coffee.

Services to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Luke’s Methodist Church 222 NW 15th Street, Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Doug’s memory.
