Charles Eugene Lampkin was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Victoria, Texas to Ben T. Lampkin, Sr. and Florence N. Lampkin. Charles passed away peacefully into Heaven on Dec. 14, 2015 surrounded by his family. Charles graduated from Classen High School in 1948, attended Texas A&M and graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in Civil Engineering. During his lengthy engineering career, Charles designed numerous buildings and turnpikes in Oklahoma and served on the Engineering Board at OU. He was also active in many civic organizations, was the first director of the Oklahoma Housing Authority and was past president of Quail Creek Country Club where he spent many years playing golf and bonding with his "buddies" in the men's grill. Charles was a proud American who served his country as a First Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. Charles became a loving father of four children when he married the love of his life, Julie Bishop, on July 26, 1966. Charles and Julie spent the next forty-nine years together enjoying life and traveling the world with family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ben T. Lampkin, Jr., and daughter and son-in-law Lisa C. and David D. Wooster. He is survived by his wife, Julie B. Lampkin, sister-in-law, Toni Lampkin, children Randy Montgomery, Steve and Cindy Lower, Jim and Dena Duncan, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A celebration of Charles' life will be held on Dec. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.
