Charles Ray Bruton (1938-2022)Charles Ray Bruton passed peacefully to his heavenly home after a short illness early Saturday morning, November 19, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born on August 12, 1938, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Jesse and Lorene Bruton. He married his sweetheart, Lois Huddleston on September 24, 1956, in Sapulpa.He served in the Oklahoma National Guard, was a tire salesman for Otasco Tires for some years, and then became a cross country trucker, which was his dream job. He drove an eighteen-wheeler for over 50 years for companies like Hugh Breeding, American Farmlines, CFI, Roadway, and Crete. Charles owned his own truck for several years. His CB handle was "Wheeler Dealer". He made many life-long friends on the road and had many stories to tell. In 2015, he received the prestigious "One Million Mile Award for Safety" for never having an accident or getting a ticket. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lorene Bruton, his brother, Johny Bruton, his sister, Patsy Cline, and his daughter, Kitty Ruth Ruth.Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Bruton, sister Lynn Cline (AZ), daughter Deborah Bouziden (CO), and son David Bruton (UT), seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.Services will be held at Smith Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 North May Avenue, in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. All are invited to come and help the family celebrate his life.
