Charlotte Ann Courtney

Charlotte Ann Courtney was born on December 6, 1955 in Oklahoma City. She passed peacefully on March 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. She graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. She met her husband, Michael Courtney, after a mutual friend was severely injured and they were both aiding in his care. They married on May 31, 1980 and made their home in Oklahoma City, where they became active in Village Baptist Church. Charlotte had the heart of a servant. She gave of herself in many ways to those who really needed it, especially friends and family. Among her many volunteer activities for the church were cooking for Wednesday dinners, playing in the handbell choir, and cooking for the youth at Falls Creek for many years. By far her greatest passion was caring for the babies and children in the church nursery, which she did for decades. Mike and Charlotte spent much of their later years in Colorado, where she loved to hike and spend time in nature. Charlotte enjoyed her "view from the pew" at Copper Mountain and served the employees on the mountain through meals and her cookie ministry. She also tolerated RV camping with Mike because they visited many beautiful national parks. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved, and she was well loved in return. In addition to her husband, Mike, Charlotte is survived by her parents, Kemp and Cynthia Fox, from whom she developed her love of sports and playing cards; her son Matt, who shared her enthusiasm for skiing and cycling; her daughter Kayla, who always looked for any excuse for them to be together; her sister Lucinda and brother-in-law Ron, who shared her craze for all things Disney; and her brother Louis and sister-in-law Michelle, who shared her love of the outdoors. Charlotte welcomed with open arms and heart daughter-in-law Susan, grandchildren Jack and Anna, son-in-law Jon, and grandbaby Laney. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Children's ministry at Village Baptist Church in Charlotte's name. Visitation will be at Smith and Kernke at 14624 North May Avenue on April 4 from 6-8pm. Celebration of life will be at Village Baptist Church on April 5 at 1pm. She will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery. She was greatly cherished and will be greatly missed.
