Christel F. Shema passed away at her home in Edmond, OK, on June 8, 2024. She was born May 12, 1935, Mainz-Kastel, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Gretel Hedderich. She met a young airman from Minnesota, Myles Henry Shema, they married and came to the U.S. She loved and was passionate about her German heritage.
Christel lived a full life spending time with friends, family and neighbors. She enjoyed playing cards, namely, gin rummy. She also enjoyed fishing, knitting, traveling and spending time with the people she loved. As she was described by her physician and friend, Dr. Krishnan, she was a “Spicy” woman!
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Myles, sisters, Helga and Marliese, and grandson, Christopher Hampton. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Moore and husband, Leon, and Debby Hampton and husband, Michael; son, Steve Shema and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Michael Ballew, Shawn Shema, Christian Lehman, Michael Shema, and Jonathan Hampton; and numerous great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Christel’s beloved neighbor, Diana Harris, Dr. Krishnan, and Dr. Sutor.
