Clarence Loyd 'C.L. (Percy) Flowers' Flowers

Percy, a devoted husband and father, was called home on July 22, 2011. He was born May 3, 1929, in Hobart, OK. He served in the US Army from 1950 until 1954 of which more than half of that time was Foreign Service, and after which he served in the Reserves until 1965. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1957. In 1957 he began a career as a US Border Patrol Inspector prior to joining the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in 1959. During his time with the ATF, he was responsible for investigations of Federal Alcohol, Firearms, Explosives and Arson laws as well as protection of dignitaries in conjunction with the Secret Service. He was detailed to provide protection for Presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan as well as many other such dignitaries. After retiring from the ATF in 1980, he worked as a petroleum landman before becoming a licensed realtor and appraiser. He enjoyed family, fine dining, sports and horse racing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Henson; father, Jack Flowers; two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maxine Flowers; son, Ray Flowers and wife, Mimi; daughter, Suzie Axtell; three stepchildren, Zoe Ann Lucas, Glynn Lucas Jr. and wife Sherilea; and Wendy Hinojosa and husband, Dino; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
