Colleen (Foss) Norris passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Colleen was born October 22, 1928 to Arthur and Lucille Morris in Lawton. In 1947, Colleen married Darrell Foss, a soldier stationed at Ft. Sill. Darrell and Colleen eventually settled in Oklahoma City where they raised their daughters. Colleen was a loving wife and mother, who always put her family first. In 1983, Colleen married Bob Wells and began a new stage of her life. With her family raised, she had time to volunteer more, travel, and she no longer had to go camping or to sporting events! Who knew that she didn't just love sleeping in tents, cooking over campfires, attending wrestling matches all over the state or sitting out in the cold or heat on benches? Certainly not her family! She and Bob split their time between La Jolla, California and Seabrook, Texas, where she became active in many volunteer organizations, and was particularly proud of the work she did with Joan Kroc's Foundation. In 2001, Colleen married James Norris, with whom she spent her final years, originally in the Seabrook area, and later in Oklahoma City. Colleen and Jim simply had a blast and she loved her life with Jim. They traveled to places far and near, danced their hearts out until they no longer could, and took care of one another as their once fit bodies began to fail. Colleen loved a good joke, going to the Houston Petroleum Club dances, baking cookies for her grandchildren, fishing when a lodge was included, her many friends whether human, furred or feathered, and most of all, her family. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Darrell and Bob, and her granddaughter Lory. She is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Norris, her daughters and their husbands, Linda and Wayne Rich of Wylie, Texas, Janis and John Claro of Oklahoma City; granddaughters Lisa Schaapveld of Oklahoma City and Lacy Smith of Kaufman, Texas, great grandson, Nathaniel Schaapveld of Wylie; and Jim's children, Teresa, Michael and John Norris. Colleen, a woman of great faith and a keen sense of humor, often joked upon the comment it was good to see her, "I would rather be seen than viewed." But as her days neared their end, and her earthly suffering became great, she prayed that God would bring her home to a peaceful place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, The Sisters of Divine Providence of San Antonio, The Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati at Mount St. Joseph, Ohio, or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2016.
