Mary "Colleen" Linke peacefully passed into God's Hands on September 9th, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born June 5th, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, Colleen was one of 4 children born to Mary Ann Roberts and Wert Ellis Roberts. Her siblings recall, that despite her small stature, she was mighty. A characteristic that was evident to all who met her.
It was in College that she met William Linke, with whom she entered into Holy Matrimony in 1968. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in July of this year.
Indeed, she was mighty while graceful. Colleen's love for her God was evident by her devotion to her church and family. She was truly a servant of the Lord. Soon after college she began her lifelong journey teaching in Catholic schools at St. Mary Magdalene in Denver. When Bill and Colleen moved to Reno she taught at Little Flower Catholic School and then St. Eugene Catholic School in Oklahoma City. She was instrumental in building 2 churches, one in Reno where she was a Founding Member and at St. Eugene in OKC.
In 2012, Colleen was named National Catholic Educator of the Year. A perfect punctuation to her 35 years in Catholic education. In her retirement she continued her involvement in many church groups and volunteer organizations. She enjoyed her garden and spending time with her grandchildren.
Colleen is survived by her husband William Linke; children Matt Linke, Mia Mullings (Matt); 3 grandchildren- Draven, Atticus and Silas Mullings and her 3 siblings- Billie, Debbi and Doug. A Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday September 14th, at 6pm at St. Eugene Catholic Church with the Rite of Christian Burial on Saturday the 15th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Eugene School Scholarship Fund.
